![]() MacOS Monterey is the latest version of Apple’s desktop operating system. Start to Install macOS Monterey on Windows 11/10 How to Install macOS Monterey Using VirtualBox on Windows 10/11.Requirements for Running macOS in VirtualBox.Pros and Cons of Installing and Running macOS on Windows 10/11.I wouldn't be surprised if it heavily relies on hardware acceleration though hence the mentioned unusable performance. I'm a software dev, but don't use Xcode at all, so I can't comment on it really. All apps open and scroll at pretty much full speed. Going back to the first point mentioning sluggishness, I really don't notice anything like that at least for ordinary web browsing and file system tasks. Safari is basically useless and just shows nothing most of the time without it (you can't turn it off), so you'll need to install Chrome or Firefox for web browsing. Something to note: no hardware acceleration out of the box. I'll write up a proper tutorial soon for others who want to do this. I was able to follow the Proxmox tutorial following that without any issue. Turns out I needed to change the VM's machine type to "q35", architecture type to "x86_64" (both CLI-only settings), delete the "-global ICH9-LPC.acpi-pci-hotplug-with-bridge-support=off" arg and change the "-device usb-kbd,bus=ehci.0,port=2" setting to "-device usb-kbd,bus=usb.0,port=2". Update: I got a VM fully working under TrueNAS Scale! It feels like using a computer from the 90s with HDD's. I mean it runs, it's usable, but it makes me want to pull my hair out and bang my head on the wall. and let's just say it's sitting there unused. Source: I installed Ventura intending it to be my main iPhone development machine. ![]() Enough to discourage me from daily driving it. Even if I avoid minimizing windows, the general feel of the VM is just sluggish and unpleasant. MacOS seems to want to enforce animations on you even if you don't want it. You can try to turn off some animations, but not everything can be turned off. I am not joking, it takes that long to animate that stupid thing. Just simple things like minimizing a window can lockup your VM for 5-10 seconds. Unlike Windows or Linux which runs quite fine in a VM without a GPU, MacOS is SLOW as molasses without it. ![]() Unless you have a supported GPU passed through to the VM, it will be near unusable. I'm going to save you potentially some time and disappointment. PSU: Fractal ION 2+ 650WLike my post (or find it helpful)?.
